For the first time this season, Glenn will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Whitney Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Whitney took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Glenn, who comes in off a win.
Glenn is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Compton Early College 13-3 on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Eagles with their most commanding win of the season.
Michael Perez was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evan Perez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jonah Mason, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Glenn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Whitney duked it out with Westminster on Friday. The Wildcats came up short against the Lions, falling 15-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since February 27th.
Whitney saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Licon, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. David Trujillo was another, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
Glenn's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Whitney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Glenn has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Whitney struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Glenn got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Whitney by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
