Baseball Recap: Druid Hills Triumphs

The Druid Hills Red Devils beat the South Paulding Spartans 5-2 on Monday.

Desi Borda made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Druid Hills is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Borda was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

Borda wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tobias Bell, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Reece Jones also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

The win got Druid Hills back to even at 3-3. As for South Paulding, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Druid Hills will host Mount Paran Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Paulding, they will challenge Bremen at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 4, the Blue Devils 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
