Nevada Union has gone 8-1 against River Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Nevada Union Miners will take on the River Valley Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Nevada Union is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Nevada Union barely beat South Tahoe the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Nevada Union never let South Tahoe get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Miners in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won three in a row.
Carter Van Matre looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Xavier Deniz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jack Bryan, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Nevada Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask River Valley). They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over Live Oak last Thursday. The Falcons not only won last Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7, 2024.
JAXON COUNTS was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of GARREN DILL, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Nevada Union pushed their record up to 4-1-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for River Valley, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Everything went Nevada Union's way against River Valley in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Nevada Union made off with a 10-2 victory. Does Nevada Union have another victory up their sleeve, or will River Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
