This season hasn't been kind to Hillel Academy, who are still winless after their fifth match. They were dealt a 74-8 defeat at the hands of St. Joseph on Monday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hillel Academy has scored all season.
St. Joseph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Julie Spinelli, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The matchup was Spinelli's 11th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gia Richter, who scored 12 points along with seven steals.
Hillel Academy bumped their record down to 0-5 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.0 points per game. As for St. Joseph, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.
Coincidentally, Hillel Academy and St. Joseph will both be playing Leechburg the next time they take the court. Hillel Academy will host Leechburg at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while St. Joseph will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
