Softball Recap: Cherokee Bluff Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Brookwood, Cherokee Bluff was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes. This was a revenge game for the Bears: when they faced off against the Purple Hurricanes back in September, they had to take a 12-0 loss.

The team relied heavily on Jaycee Archer, who fired off three home runs and five RBI while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in runs (three). Another player making a difference was Haley Stephenson, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Cherokee Bluff lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Cherokee Bluff's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Monroe Area, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 16-8 record.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cherokee Bluff will take on Buford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolves' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so the Bears' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Monroe Area, they will head out on the road to challenge Jefferson at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their 15th straight victory, something the Purple Hurricanes surely won't give up without a fight.
