The New Washington Mustangs will be home for the holidays to greet the Lanesville Eagles at 1:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: New Washington has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Lanesville will arrive with 26 straight victories.
Last Saturday, New Washington was the victim of a tough 54-32 loss at the hands of Jac-Cen-Del. While losing is never fun, New Washington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Jac-Cen-Del is ranked 87th).
Meanwhile, Lanesville beat Crawford County 52-39 on Thursday.
Lanesville's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Hadley Crosier, who scored 17 points along with six steals. Ava Kerr was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
New Washington has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for Lanesville, their victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-0.
New Washington took a serious blow against Lanesville when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 63-18. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point New Washington was down 39-11.
