Centennial not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 4th (when they won 15-0). Everything went their way against Lexington as they made off with a 13-1 win.
Riley Ziegler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in October of 2024.
In other batting news, Centennial got a massive performance out of Nya Fischer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most hits Fischer has posted over her last 15 games. Paityn Scheele was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Centennial always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .619. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Blue River and Polk County, and Blue River kept the tradition alive. Blue River walked away with a 10-5 victory over Polk County on Thursday. Considering Blue River's hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
The team relied heavily on Emelia Hoeppner, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Adams, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Centennial's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Blue River, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Centennial suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Blue River in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can the Broncos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
