You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Northwest Rankin  on Friday. They took down the Meridian Wildcats 31-12. That 19 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.
 Jermany Hayden was  his usual excellent self, rushing for 233 yards and one  TD. The team also got some help courtesy of  Gavin Phillipson, who threw for 222 yards and a pair of  touchdowns.
 They were just one part of a punishing run game: Northwest Rankin was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 237  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
Northwest Rankin has  been performing  well recently as they've  won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record  this season. As for Meridian,  they are  on  a  four-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-6.
