Pomona has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the La Puente Warriors at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Pomona suffered their biggest loss since November 30, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Garey, falling 67-21. While losing is never fun, Pomona can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1166th, while Garey is ranked 550th).
Meanwhile, La Puente's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 48-3 loss at the hands of Edgewood. La Puente was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-0.
Pomona's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for La Puente, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Pomona against La Puente in their previous meeting two weeks ago as the squad secured a 47-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pomona since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
