Basketball Recap: Argonaut Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Argonaut won the last time they faced Galt and things went their way on Thursday too. The Argonaut Mustangs put the hurt on the Galt Warriors with a sharp 43-22 victory. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Argonaut's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brynn Begovich, who went 6 of 13 on her way to 15 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Alayna Critchfield was another key player, putting up seven points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.

Argonaut smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Galt lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Emily Pena, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and three steals. Pena has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times she's played.

Argonaut is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Galt, they dropped their record down to 5-21 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, Argonaut will square off against Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Galt, they will take on Union Mine at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Union Mine will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Galt surely won't give up without a fight.
