Franklin had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past the Murphy Bulldogs 33-13. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Franklin found their leader in underclassman Garrett Young, who rushed for 14 yards.

Despite the loss, Murphy still got an impressive performance from Ryan Payne, who picked up 136 receiving yards and a touchdown. Payne got the majority of those yards when he pulled down a pass and and took off for a gain of78 yards.
Franklin will challenge Robbinsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Murphy, they will square off against Heard County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
