The Kehillah Rams struggled with offensive rebounds on Monday (The Nueva School Mavericks had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Kehillah took a serious blow against the Mavericks, falling 56-19. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Kehillah in their matchups with the Mavericks: they've now lost nine in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Kehillah lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ariella Sheppard. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points along with three steals. That was a full 78.9% of Kehillah's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The Nueva School's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Siana Kapoor, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Kapoor has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amrutha Rao, who scored 13 points along with five steals.
Kehillah dropped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.3 points per game. As for The Nueva School, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-8.
Kehillah won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. San Francisco Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 17 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for The Nueva School, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th.
