The Rock Hill Bearcats suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 59-36 walloping at the hands of Fort Mill. While losing is never fun, Rock Hill can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Fort Mill is ranked 21st).
Rock Hill's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Collin Mckellar, who scored five points along with two steals, and Malik Ashe who scored eight points.
Fort Mill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AJ Washington led the charge by scoring 15 points along with four steals. Washington has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kishawn Anderson, who scored six points along with seven assists and four steals.
Rock Hill's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Fort Mill, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.
Rock Hill will be playing in front of their home fans against Nation Ford at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Nation Ford is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Fort Mill, they will head out on the road to square off against Spring Valley at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
