The Carlynton Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 78-54 loss at the hands of Union Area. Carlynton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Scotties apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Carlynton still got an impressive performance from Devonte Dean, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Moldovan, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Lucas Stanley was his usual excellent self, scoring 40 points along with eight rebounds and two steals for Union Area. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Stanley has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Braylon Thomas, who scored 16 points along with seven assists and two steals.
Carlynton's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Union Area, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9.
Carlynton will be playing at home against the Golden Beavers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Union Area, they will head out on the road to challenge the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cornell is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
