The biggest upset of the week belonged to Sibley East, who took down 49th ranked Montgomery-Lonsdale, 15-12.
Mayer Lutheran was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to second in Minnesota River. Earlier in the week, the Crusaders defeated Belle Plaine 36-6.
Mayer Lutheran's Jeremiah Grimsley and Tanner Luebke have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Grimsley has thrown for 682 yards this season, while Luebke, a 5-foot-6 receiver, has 13 catches for 315 yards. Joe Reinert from Watertown-Mayer leads the league in rushing with 751 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Redbirds take on the Royals. As it stands, Montgomery-Lonsdale is in fourth, while Watertown-Mayer is in third.
The Wolverines extended the longest winning streak in Minnesota River this week by beating Tim Klingbeil's team, 15-12. The victory was the sixth in a row for Sibley East.
