The Lassen Grizzlies's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Anderson by a score of 53-50. While losing is never fun, Lassen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 648th, while Anderson is ranked 276th).
Despite the defeat, Lassen saw an underclassman step up: Nellie Ratcliff scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kinley Somerville, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lassen has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Anderson, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-3.
Lassen will look to defend their home court on Friday against Yreka at 6:00 p.m. As for Anderson, they will head out on the road to challenge West Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully West Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday.
