Victory Christian Academy had lost four games at home dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-5 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 16-13 win over the Ocean View Christian Patriots. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Victory Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Max Gardner, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Gardner has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Forest Partch, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Victory Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
As for Ocean View Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3. Even if they couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
On Ocean View Christian's side, Tyler Cauley was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Cauley was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He also hit a triple, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Cruz Pamintuan was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple was his first of the season. Parker Broersma was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Coming up, Victory Christian Academy will challenge High Tech Mesa at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Ocean View Christian, they will take on Gompers Prep Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
