The Piner Prospectors were the 55-29 winner over the Roseland University Prep Knights when they last played one another back in November of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Piner took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roseland University Prep.
When it comes to explaining why Piner lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Betzie Hernandez . Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. The contest was Hernandez 's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanessa Cruz Hernandez, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
Piner has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Roseland University Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-6.
Piner's road trip will continue as they head out to face St. Vincent de Paul at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. As for Roseland University Prep, they will be playing at home against Elsie Allen at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
