The Sheridan Blackhawks will head out on the road to face off against the Clinton Prairie Gophers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Sheridan knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Clinton Prairie likes a good challenge.
Sheridan has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 35 points or more this season. They blew past Frankfort 55-20 on the road. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 13 more assists than your opponent, as Sheridan did.
Kenzie Garner was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 10 steals. The matchup was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nova Cross, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Clinton Prairie was able to grind out a solid win over Lebanon on Monday, taking the game 52-45.
Clinton Prairie got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Abbey Swan out in front who scored 21 points. The contest was Swan's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Haven Wilson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Sheridan's victory bumped their season record to 4-2 while Frankfort's loss dropped theirs to 0-6.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Sheridan hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 57.3 points per game. It's a different story for Clinton Prairie, though, as they've been averaging only 37.4 per game. The only thing between Sheridan and another offensive beatdown is Clinton Prairie. Sheridan suffered a grim 54-32 defeat to Clinton Prairie when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Sheridan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
