Chatfield dropped down to 7-11 on Monday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Valor Christian Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-0 on September 11th.
Isabella Leech spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
As for Valor Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 12-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.
On Valor Christian's side, the result came thanks to Elizabeth Canales's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks.
