The Covenant Christian Academy Rams will square off against the Pinecrest Academy Paladins at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Covenant Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season.
Last Monday, Covenant Christian Academy came up short against Johnson Ferry Christian Academy and fell 14-9.
Asher Bond put in work while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Bond was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Garrison Barton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Pinecrest Academy entered their tilt with Trinity Classical on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Trinity Classical. The result was nothing new for the Paladins, who have now won 11 games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Like Covenant Christian Academy, Pinecrest Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Mathew Sime. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sime has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hunter Bolt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Lucas Miles was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.
Pinecrest Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Pinecrest Academy's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Covenant Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Covenant Christian Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pinecrest Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Covenant Christian Academy might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Pinecrest Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
