Ann Sobrato and Lincoln are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Ann Sobrato has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Lincoln will arrive with 12 straight wins.
On Thursday, Ann Sobrato didn't have quite enough to beat Piedmont Hills and fell 8-7. That's two games in a row now that the Bulldogs have lost by just one run.
Dylan Brown made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Jackson Raines was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln got the win against Hill on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. Considering the Lions have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jayden Peters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Cole Stromberg looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Lincoln got a massive performance out of Andres Garcia, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Garcia has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Collazo, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Lincoln pushed their record up to 19-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Everything went Ann Sobrato's way against Lincoln when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Ann Sobrato made off with a 14-3 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
