The McCool Junction Mustangs can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Meridian 61-29 on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win McCool Junction has posted since December 7, 2023.
McKenna Yates continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 21 points along with seven assists and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sara Weisheit, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meridian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylee Sobotka, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Hofstetter, who scored six points.
The win makes it two in a row for McCool Junction and bumps their season record up to 10-3. As for Meridian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.
McCool Junction won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dorchester at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Dorchester's defense has only allowed 28.4 points per game this season, so McCool Junction's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meridian will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against East Butler at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th.
