Baseball Recap: Marquez Has No Trouble Against Elizabeth

After only two runs in their last matchup, Marquez made sure to put some runs up on the board against Elizabeth on Monday. The Gladiators were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bulldogs. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Jason Gutierrez was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Diego Papias was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Marquez was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only posted a batting average of .150.

Marquez is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Elizabeth, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Marquez will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulldogs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
