The Foothill Cougars lost against the Pleasant Valley Vikings back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Foothill ended up on the wrong side of a tough 68-43 walloping at the hands of the Vikings. Foothill has struggled against the Vikings recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Foothill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lexi Peters. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with three steals. Peters is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last five games she's played. Kalli Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 11 rebounds.
Pleasant Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caitlyn Vickery, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 20 rebounds. Vickery hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Maddux Wilson, who scored 17 points.
Foothill's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7. As for Pleasant Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Foothill will face off against the Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Shasta will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while the Cougars are ranked 122nd). As for Pleasant Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Enterprise has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Vikings will arrive with three straight wins.
