The West Shamokin Wolves suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Portage, falling 62-26. While losing is never fun, West Shamokin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while Portage is ranked 34th).
Among those leading the charge was Ashlyn Hudak, who scored 15 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Burkett, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
West Shamokin's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Portage, their victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
West Shamokin will take on River Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. River Valley will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Portage, they will head out on the road to square off against Conemaugh Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Conemaugh Valley is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
