Omaha North extended their losing streak to 23 on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-24. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 12-10 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lincoln High Links. Even if the Vikings couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Anna Bartsch made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Cyel Yebe also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for Lincoln High, their record now sits at 7-13. They haven't had any issues with Omaha North recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
On Lincoln High's side, Ceci Benson made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.2 innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Benson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Evie Becher, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in October of 2024. Nora Davy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coming up, Omaha North will face off against Benson at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday. The Bunnies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.81 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln High, they have already played their next matchup, an 8-4 defeat against Grand Island on the 4th.
