On Friday, the Castro Valley Trojans kept a clean sheet against the Alameda Hornets. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 2-0. Given Castro Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 169th, while Alameda is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Castro Valley was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Hannah Sommerhalter and
Kiana Ayllon, who scored both of Castro Valley's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 14 so far this season.
Castro Valley's victory bumped their record up to 11-3-5. As for Alameda, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-7-3.
Castro Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Dublin at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dublin's last seven games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Alameda, they will head out on the road to square off against Bishop O'Dowd at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alameda's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.
