Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mt. Shasta). They put the hurt on the Trinity Wolves with a sharp 20-1 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Bears as they're now sitting on four straight.
BEN KENNEDY and Hayden Porteous made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, KENNEDY tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Porteous tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. KENNEDY also tossed no walks, which is notable because Mt. Shasta is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 10-11 otherwise. At the plate, KENNEDY went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Porteous went 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave Porteous a new career-high.
In other batting news, Keikea Ferguson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Mt. Shasta is undefeated when Ferguson posts two or more runs, but 10-11 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Mcintyre, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and two runs.
Mt. Shasta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trinity only posted an OBP of .176.
Mt. Shasta pushed their record up to 14-11 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for Trinity, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.
