The West Catholic Burrs lost against the Upper Dublin Cardinals back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. West Catholic took a 54-38 bruising from Upper Dublin. While losing is never fun, West Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 146th, while Upper Dublin is ranked 25th).
West Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jasmine Butler, who scored 11 points. Ciani Scott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for West Catholic and nudges their season record down to 8-7. As for Upper Dublin, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Catholic will take on Cardinal O'Hara at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal O'Hara is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Upper Dublin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Quakertown at 7:00 p.m. Quakertown has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 13.
