Marshall has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Arroyo Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Marshall will be strutting in after a victory while Arroyo will be coming in after a defeat.
Marshall can now show off 11 landslide victories after their most recent match on Wednesday. They blew past South El Monte, posting a 55-10 win at home. Given Marshall's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while South El Monte is ranked 1030th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marshall's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jolynn Abilar, who scored ten points along with six rebounds. Madelyn Degooyer was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Arroyo ended up a good deal behind Rosemead on Monday and lost 46-32. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Arroyo in their matchups with Rosemead: they've now lost three in a row.
Marshall is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Arroyo, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.
Everything came up roses for Marshall against Arroyo in their previous matchup on January 9th as the team secured a 54-18 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marshall since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
