Make it six blowout wins for the Aptos Mariners this season. Everything went their way against San Lorenzo Valley on Tuesday as Aptos made off with a 60-34 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Aptos has posted since December 27, 2023.
Leading Aptos to victory were Gabby Wickham and Abby Sherwood. Wickham scored 12 points along with seven assists and four steals, while Sherwood dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sherwood has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laurel Southall, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Aptos is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.
Aptos will be playing in front of their home fans against Soquel at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Soquel will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1085th, while Aptos is ranked 474th). As for San Lorenzo Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Harbor at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harbor is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
