Hollister and St. Francis are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2019, but likely not for long. The Haybalers will be playing at home against the Sharks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hollister's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so St. Francis' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Hollister's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They came out on top against Palo Alto by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Haybalers.
Meanwhile, St. Francis came out on top against Soledad on Thursday by a score of 4-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Sharks haven't had any issues with the Aztecs recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Nash Horton was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of St. Francis' success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't). Horton was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Javier Fonseca, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Magana, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
St. Francis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Soledad struck out nine times.
Hollister's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-8. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for St. Francis, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Hollister couldn't quite get it done against St. Francis in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 7-4. Will the Haybalers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
