Sunnyslope has gone a perfect 7-0 against Ironwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Vikings are taking a road trip to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Sunnyslope has given up an average of 25.6 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Friday, Sunnyslope ended up a good deal behind Cactus and lost 52-35. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Royce Vanacore, who threw for 328 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt. Ryder Cirone did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 129 receiving yards.
Even if they lost, Sunnyslope's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Anthony Teran, Carsan Churchman, and Elijah Morrison, who each picked up one sack apiece.
Meanwhile, the third road game was the charm for Ironwood, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past West Point 19-16. The 19-point effort marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Sunnyslope better keep an eye on Nicholas Morrow. He was instrumental in Ironwood's win, rushing for 190 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Sunnyslope suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2. As for Ironwood, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sunnyslope has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 160.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ironwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 295.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Sunnyslope against Ironwood in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, as the squad secured a 42-14 win. Do the Vikings have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
