Carlisle is 8-1 against Virginia Episcopal School since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Chiefs will face off against the Bishops at 4:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Carlisle is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Roanoke Catholic get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Monday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Chiefs with their most commanding win of the season.

Blake Parsons and Cole Scarce made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Parsons pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Scarce struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Carlisle is 3-1 when Scarce allows three or fewer hits, but 1-3 otherwise. At the plate, Parsons scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Scarce scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Scarce a new career-high.
In other batting news, Casey Thomas and Luke Carter did most of the damage at the plate: Thomas scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Carter scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Thomas continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Wood, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Carlisle always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Virginia Episcopal School made easy work of Hargrave Military Academy on Monday and carried off a 24-1 win.
Like Carlisle, Virginia Episcopal School also got a great game from a two-way player: Jack Mitchell. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Mitchell has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all six of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Virginia Episcopal School let Nate Gobble and Lawrence Dempsey run wild. Gobble went 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Dempsey scored five runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Nash Watson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Carlisle back to even at 4-4. As for Virginia Episcopal School, their record now sits at 7-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carlisle has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Virginia Episcopal School struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carlisle might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Virginia Episcopal School in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Chiefs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
