Basketball Recap: Hickory's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

It was a good run, but Hickory unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Greenville Trojans by a score of 39-36. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-40 back in January.

Defeat or not, Hickory got some senior leadership from Kimora Roberts and Mya Odem. Roberts dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Odem dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Odem has scored all season.

Even though they lost, Hickory smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matchups.

Hickory's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Greenville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Hickory is taking a road trip to square off against Slippery Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Slippery Rock will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Hickory surely won't give up without a fight. As for Greenville, they will host Grove City at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
