Esparto is 0-5 against the Grizzlies since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Esparto Spartans will be playing at home against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 6:00 p.m. Esparto is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.
On Friday, Esparto took a serious blow against the Falcons, falling 60-29. Esparto has not had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Golden Sierra slipped by the Spartans 36-35 on Thursday. The victory was just what Golden Sierra needed coming off of a 65-21 loss in their prior contest.
Golden Sierra relied on the efforts of Gracey Nordby, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals, and Skyler Tory, who scored four points along with 30 rebounds and two steals. Tory is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last seven games she's played.
Esparto dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 17.7 points per game. As for Golden Sierra, their win bumped their record up to 7-12.
Esparto was dealt a bruising 57-16 loss at the hands of the Grizzlies in their previous meeting back in January. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Esparto was down 33-8.
