The Borrego Springs Rams will face off against the Pacific Ridge Firebirds at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Borrego Springs' favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
Borrego Springs barely beat Calipatria the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand the Hornets a 22-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Joey Rocha made a splash while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over four innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Borrego Springs: the team is 8-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.
In other batting news, Borrego Springs let Maximiliano Hernandez and Christopher Alcaraz run wild. Hernandez got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI, while Alcaraz went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Alcaraz has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jorge Torres, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.
Borrego Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Tri-City Christian hit Pacific Ridge with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Firebirds fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-3.
Elijah Franklin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March.
At the plate, Michael Fredericks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Borrego Springs has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Pacific Ridge, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-5.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Borrego Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Pacific Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Borrego Springs couldn't quite finish off Pacific Ridge in their previous matchup back in March and fell 6-4. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
