Quince Orchard is 9-1 against Northwest since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Quince Orchard Cougars will be playing at home against the Northwest Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Quince Orchard put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Sherwood at home to the tune of 64-6. With Quince Orchard ahead 50-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Quince Orchard got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nino Marzullo out in front who threw for 199 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Iverson Howard, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only five carries.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, Northwest rose to the challenge on Thursday. They really took it to Seneca Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 36-0 victory at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Northwest had established a 28 point advantage.
Northwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayden Vongprachanh-Nelson, who threw for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Jay Clunis and his 90 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Northwest's win.
Quince Orchard has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 9-0 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points per game. As for Northwest, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Quince Orchard was able to grind out a solid victory over Northwest in their previous matchup back in October, winning 34-21. Will Quince Orchard repeat their success, or does Northwest have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
