Basketball Recap: Chandler Piles Up the Points Against San Luis

Chandler won against Queen Creek last Friday with 71 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Chandler Wolves blew past the San Luis Sidewinders, posting a 71-17 victory. The Wolves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chandler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karis Hurd, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Hurd has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Markayla Shirley, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 14 points and six steals.

Chandler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why San Luis lost, don't look at Vanessa Ambriz. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points.

Chandler's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for San Luis, they dropped their record down to 3-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Chandler didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-34 loss against Victory Christian Academy on the 18th. As for San Luis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 54-26 defeat against Yuma on the 17th.
