After losing to the El Cerrito Gauchos the last time they met, the Vallejo Redhawks decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Vallejo walked away with a 42-35 victory over El Cerrito on Friday.
Vallejo was led to victory by Veekie Head and Jazmine Cardwell. Head dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Cardwell dropped a double-double on 16 points and 23 rebounds. The match was Cardwell's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Tesaiyah Sackiel was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Vallejo's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for El Cerrito, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vallejo won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Mills at 6:00 p.m. on December 16th. Mills presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Vallejo in California (Mills is ranked 459th, while Vallejo is ranked 934th). As for El Cerrito, they will head out on the road to face off against Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
