The Conestoga Christian Cougars had to endure a 17-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Alliance Christian on Wednesday and snuck past 36-34. Conestoga Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Conestoga Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mia Provenson, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Provenson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Weaver, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Conestoga Christian's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 1-11. As for Alliance Christian, they bumped their record down to 0-4 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Conestoga Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Christian School of York at 5:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Alliance Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge Linville Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
