If the Uniontown Red Raiders were feeling good off their 70-37 takedown of the Ringgold Rams on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Uniontown suffered a tough 47-25 defeat at the hands of Preston on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 70 points in the game before, Uniontown couldn't push the score so high this time.
Uniontown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Geelece Ingram, who scored seven points. Another player making a difference was Khloey Wakefield, who scored five points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Preston to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendra Nazelrod, who scored eight points along with eight blocks and seven rebounds. Those eight blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Cameryn Sypolt was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Uniontown's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 3-8. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.0 points per game. As for Preston, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
Uniontown won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Albert Gallatin at 6:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Preston, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against East Fairmont at 5:45 p.m.
