The Kaiser Cats will take on the Apple Valley Sun Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Kaiser is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 4, 2025 on Tuesday. They lost 12-3 to South Hills. The Cats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaiser saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tino Isaiah Cuellar, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Apple Valley ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past Victor Valley 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sun Devils have posted against the Jackrabbits since February 11, 2023.
Brady Daudel tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Travis Yoda, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Mikey Fonville was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
The victory made it two in a row for Apple Valley and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for Kaiser, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kaiser has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Apple Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Kaiser might still be hurting after the 6-0 defeat they got from Apple Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2022. Can the Cats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
