The South San Francisco Warriors will face off against the Summit Shasta Black Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with South San Francisco sitting on eight straight victories and Summit Shasta on four.
South San Francisco's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Priory with a sharp 9-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Emilio Oseguera was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Adam Keith was excellent, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Josh Nabung, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base.
Summit Shasta came out on top against North Valley Baptist on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Black Bears took their matchup against the Bulldogs 8-5.
The team relied heavily on Caden Frost, who went 1-for-3 with five stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Summit Shasta: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryan Silva Marcial, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
South San Francisco pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Summit Shasta, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Both South San Francisco and Summit Shasta just can't seem to miss. The Warriors have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like Summit Shasta struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South San Francisco might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Summit Shasta in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
