Basketball Recap: Pierce City Piles Up the Points Against Sheldon

Pierce City won the last time they faced Sheldon and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Pierce City Eagles breezed by the Sheldon Panthers to the tune of 62-32. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Wynsdae Connelly, who posted 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.8% of Sheldon's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Swanson, who put up four points.

Pierce City's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Sheldon, the loss snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 8-4 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pierce City will venture away from home to take on Miller at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Miller will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Pierce City surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sheldon, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sheldon Panthers challenge the Bronaugh Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sheldon is facing Bronaugh at the right time seeing as Bronaugh is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
