Sahuaro can attribute much of their success to Biale Sika, who went 8 of 11 on her way to 17 points and five boards. Those 17 points gave Sika a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carly Coolidge, who posted six points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Salpointe Catholic over Tucson High Magnet School in every quarter on their way to victory on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Salpointe Catholic blew Tucson High Magnet School out of the water with a 69-39 final score. The Lancers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 22 points or more this season.
Salpointe Catholic's win came from a few key players Sahuaro will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Allison Even, who went 6 for 14 en route to 13 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Williams, who went 9 of 16 on her way to 19 points and six rebounds.
Salpointe Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Sahuaro has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Salpointe Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Sahuaro has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Salpointe Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 31.1 rebounds.
