Given Vista del Lago's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 112th, while El Camino is ranked 640th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ella Skrzyniarz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below 15points for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ursula Chen, who scored nine points along with ten steals.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Rio Americano beat Sacramento 51-46 on Monday.
Vista del Lago has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Rio Americano, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Vista del Lago have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 29.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Rio Americano, though, as they've been averaging only 0.8 rebounds per game. Given Vista del Lago's sizeable advantage in that area, Rio Americano will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Vista del Lago against Rio Americano when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-35 victory. With Vista del Lago ahead 41-16 at the half, the game was all but over already.
