Addison Dalton was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn DeSalvo, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Woodland Park came into Saturday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Sierra on Saturday as they made off with a 14-3 win.
Woodland Park let Sarah Fuhrmann and Christine Renteria run wild. Fuhrmann went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Renteria went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Fuhrmann a new career-high. Aubriana Lanza also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Woodland Park kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Florence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Woodland Park, their victory bumped their record up to 3-11.
Woodland Park's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Florence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Woodland Park, though, as they've been averaging only 2.1 strikeouts. Will Florence keep running through batters, or will the Panthers buck the trend?
Florence took their win against Woodland Park when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 13-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Huskies since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
