Pickerington Central gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They breezed past the Lincoln Lions to the tune of 45-14. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 49-14 win the Lions walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2023.
Rocco Williams had an outrageously good game as he threw for 337 yards and three TDs while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also rushed for 51 yards. A healthy portion of Williams' aerial production (132 yards to be exact) went to Jayden Nelson.
Lincoln's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marki Wallace, who picked up 127 receiving yards and one score. Wallace showed off some serious burst, cutting upfield on a catch for 61 yards.
Pickerington Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-28 victory against Wayne on the 29th. As for Lincoln, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 31-24 win against Groveport-Madison on the 29th.
